Explosion (Behind Me)?

For the Action Pact, here’s a song about how the hero walks slowly unflinching from a ginormous explosion.

Lyrics

Was there an explosion behind me
Because I Didn’t notice
I Casually walk away from
Whatever Exploded
Was there an explosion behind me
Because I Didn’t notice
I Casually walk away from
Whatever Exploded

I leave a trail of gasoline behind me
And then I light a match
It doesn’t matter if it’s in a warehouse full of bad guys
That I’m trying to catch
They try to get me, they’ll never get me though
I just walk out the front door real slow
Everything goes boom boom boom
Whenever I leave the room

Was there an explosion behind me
Because I Didn’t notice
I Casually walk away from
Whatever Exploded
Was there an explosion behind me
Because I Didn’t notice

Her or the Job

Still working on the Action Pact, my concept EP that parodies and pays homage to 80s Action Movie Cliches and 80s Rock Music. The latest track is an attempt at a power ballad. I might need to do a bit more research and a few more takes to get it right. I think it’s a good start. The cliche from action films here is the wife/girlfriend of the hero protagonist telling him to choose between her and police work. I think this distills the essence of that theme pretty well.

Lyrics
She wants me to choose
Between her and the job
But I, I don’t want to loose
Either her or the job

When we first met I was just a young cop on the beat
I heard her yelling stop thief who stole her purse on the street
And later that night she asked me to join her for dinner
It was love at first sight I really felt like a winner
But now I’m working late nights, and she always complains
Putting in overtime, she says that nothings the same
She says she needs her man at home, what am I gonna do
Only thing I love more than police work, is coming home to you

Now she wants me to choose
Between her and the job
But I, I don’t want to loose
Either her or the job

She wants me to choose
Between her and the job
But I, I don’t want to loose
Either her or the job
Her or the Job

Down to the Wire

One more song for the Action Pact EP project that pays homage to 80s action movies and 80s rock music. This installment is about how in every movie or TV show back in the day scene where the hero had to diffuse a bomb of some sort by cutting a wire of a particular color is attached to a time bomb. That’s the genesis of this song. But I also wanted to add a little rock saxophone to the mix.

You’re welcome.

Lyrics

Now it’s come
Down to the wire
Cut the right one
Before the time expires
Yellow wire, black wire
Blue Wire, Red Wire
Cut the right one
Or you’ll set the world on fire

Some people just wanna see the world burn
But they can never win, when will they learn

They put a timebomb – In a hospital elevator
Only way to save the day is disconnect the detonator
Not my specialty but I’m the man on the job
Put me on the phone – with that slob from the bomb squad
Don’t have time to put on a padded armor suit
If I make it out of this alive – I’ll find somebody to shoot
Cut the wires with my teeth – now Im holding my breath
I stopped he timer with only one minute left

Some people just wanna see the world burn
But they can never win, when will they learn

Now it’s come
Down to the wire
Cut the right one
Before the time expires
Yellow wire, black wire
Blue Wire, Red Wire
Cut the right one
Or you’ll set the world on fire

Now it’s come
Down to the wire

DOwn to the Wire

Conspiracy (All the Way to the Top)

Here’s the latest song from the 80s Action Movie Cliche concept album, The Action Pact. Conspiracy (All the Way to the Top) is about how the hero is looking into a crimewave and the deeper he looks the higher status of the people involved. Epitomized by films like Lethal Weapon 3, and Black Dynamite. Well, give it a listen. I really like this one, kind of, sort of punk.

Lyrics
Can’t trust Politicians
Can’t trust the Cops
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
Police Chief or the General
Where does it stop
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
Only thing I Trust
Is locked loaded and cocked
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top

Beating down dirtbags getting Information
What I found out was beyond my expectations
Got Dirty Cops and Dirty City Officials
Gonna Clean up the streets Dirt bags I’m coming to get you
My broom’s a shot gun and my mop is a pistol
Your rank and your title isn’t even an issue
Businessman Druglord a pimp a judge or a general
I take that trash out like they were any other criminal

Can’t trust Politicians
Can’t trust the Cops
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
Police Chief or the General
Where does it stop
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
Only thing I Trust
Is locked loaded and cocked
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top

Loose Cannon

I’m continuing the trend of Rock and Metal music with an 80s Action Movie Cliche/Trope theme. This one is Loose Cannon, not attached to a podcast, just some the possible beginnings of a parody/theme Rock EP tentatively titled The Action Pact. The trope here, for the uninitiated is that the protagonist cop in a lot of action movies gets suspended from the police department for unnecessary or brutal force. Generally yelled at by the angry police chief. The following song is the hero cop’s lament.

Lyrics

Turn in my badge
Turn in my gun
Kicked off the force because I get the job done
I’m a loose
Loose Cannon

All I did was
Blow up a neoghborhood but listen
I only did it with some Really Good Intentions
There were Drug Dealers and Thugs
Everyone doing harm
But I am the law
And I know I got these really long arms

I’m a loose
Loose Cannon
Turn in my badge
Turn in my gun
Kicked off the force because I get the job done
I’m a loose
Loose Cannon
