Down to the Wire

One more song for the Action Pact EP project that pays homage to 80s action movies and 80s rock music. This installment is about how in every movie or TV show back in the day scene where the hero had to diffuse a bomb of some sort by cutting a wire of a particular color is attached to a time bomb. That’s the genesis of this song. But I also wanted to add a little rock saxophone to the mix.

You’re welcome.

Lyrics

Now it’s come
Down to the wire
Cut the right one
Before the time expires
Yellow wire, black wire
Blue Wire, Red Wire
Cut the right one
Or you’ll set the world on fire

Some people just wanna see the world burn
But they can never win, when will they learn

They put a timebomb – In a hospital elevator
Only way to save the day is disconnect the detonator
Not my specialty but I’m the man on the job
Put me on the phone – with that slob from the bomb squad
Don’t have time to put on a padded armor suit
If I make it out of this alive – I’ll find somebody to shoot
Cut the wires with my teeth – now Im holding my breath
I stopped he timer with only one minute left

Some people just wanna see the world burn
But they can never win, when will they learn

Now it’s come
Down to the wire
Cut the right one
Before the time expires
Yellow wire, black wire
Blue Wire, Red Wire
Cut the right one
Or you’ll set the world on fire

Now it’s come
Down to the wire

DOwn to the Wire

Never Reload

An ode to the 80s Action Movie Cliche where the hero’s gun never seems to run out of bullets. References the Konami Code from the Nintendo game Contra.

Lyrics
I never have to reload
It’s like I got the Konami Code
I kill my enemies cold
And my gun is about to expload
Up Up Down Down, Left Right, Left Right, B,A Start
Up Up Down Down, Left Right, Left Right, B,A Start

Got my back against a wall
listen how all the shell casings fall
You’re wondering how man shots
Don’t try to count because it’s a lot
Magic bullets magic gun
If you see me coming you better run
Action Pact to the extreme
The body count I leave is obscene

I never have to reload
It’s like I got the Konami Code
I kill my enemies cold
And my gun is about to expload
Up Up Down Down, Left Right, Left Right, B,A Start
Up Up Down Down, Left Right, Left Right, B,A Start
Up Up Down Down, Left Right, Left Right, B,A Start

never reload

Getaway

Continuing on with the hit parade of my tribute album to 80s Rock music and 80s Action Movie cliches and tropes, his time it’s an ode to the mandatory car chase in pretty much every action movie ever. I hope to here it in a car commercial one day, or maybe in a movie that’s just a little too on the nose.

Lyrics

The Crooks want to get away
Gotta have a chase on the highway
Getaway Getaway, They wanna getaway
Getaway Getawy, Won’t let ’em getaway

Robbers on the highway
they push the petal to the Red LIne
Mess around with me
you get a permanent Bed Time
Smashing through the barricades
and crashing into Squad Cars
Thought they’d getaway,
but really they never got far
Jumping over ramps
at maximum acceleration
What they didn’t count on
was my determination
I Bumped into their backside
they spun out of control
Mess with the law
then you got to pay the toll

The Crooks want to get away
Gotta have a chase on the highway
Getaway Getaway, They wanna getaway
Getaway Getawy, Won’t let ’em getaway
The Crooks want to get away
Gotta have a chase on the highway
Getaway Getaway, They wanna getaway
Getaway Getawy, Won’t let ’em getaway
Getaway Getaway, They wanna getaway
Getaway Getawy, Won’t let ’em getaway

getaway

Conspiracy (All the Way to the Top)

Here’s the latest song from the 80s Action Movie Cliche concept album, The Action Pact. Conspiracy (All the Way to the Top) is about how the hero is looking into a crimewave and the deeper he looks the higher status of the people involved. Epitomized by films like Lethal Weapon 3, and Black Dynamite. Well, give it a listen. I really like this one, kind of, sort of punk.

Lyrics
Can’t trust Politicians
Can’t trust the Cops
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
Police Chief or the General
Where does it stop
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
Only thing I Trust
Is locked loaded and cocked
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top

Beating down dirtbags getting Information
What I found out was beyond my expectations
Got Dirty Cops and Dirty City Officials
Gonna Clean up the streets Dirt bags I’m coming to get you
My broom’s a shot gun and my mop is a pistol
Your rank and your title isn’t even an issue
Businessman Druglord a pimp a judge or a general
I take that trash out like they were any other criminal

Can’t trust Politicians
Can’t trust the Cops
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
Police Chief or the General
Where does it stop
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
Only thing I Trust
Is locked loaded and cocked
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top
This Conspiracy goes all the way to the top

Conspiracy

One At A Time

Continuing with the 80s Action Movie nostalgia parade that is the The Action Pact project, I have this track called One At A Time. The track is about how the protagonist in action movies, when confronted with a mob of criminals, has the good fortune of all the members of the mob coming for him/her one by one, without shooting or stabbing hime/her.

Lyrics
When I’m fighting my enemies
They come One At A Time
I got enough whup ass for all of you
Come on, get in line

The got me – Surrounded
But I’ve got the will to win
Everybody gets pounded
It’s just bare Nuckles on Skin
I am never ever gonna lose
‘Cause I know they know the rules
It could be One Hundred Fools
But one by one they pay their dues

When I’m fighting my enemies
They come One At A Time
I got enough whup ass for all of you
Come on, get in line
When I’m fighting my enemies
They come One At A Time
I got enough whup ass for all of you
Come on, get in line

One At A Time

Loose Cannon

I’m continuing the trend of Rock and Metal music with an 80s Action Movie Cliche/Trope theme. This one is Loose Cannon, not attached to a podcast, just some the possible beginnings of a parody/theme Rock EP tentatively titled The Action Pact. The trope here, for the uninitiated is that the protagonist cop in a lot of action movies gets suspended from the police department for unnecessary or brutal force. Generally yelled at by the angry police chief. The following song is the hero cop’s lament.

Lyrics

Turn in my badge
Turn in my gun
Kicked off the force because I get the job done
I’m a loose
Loose Cannon

All I did was
Blow up a neoghborhood but listen
I only did it with some Really Good Intentions
There were Drug Dealers and Thugs
Everyone doing harm
But I am the law
And I know I got these really long arms

I’m a loose
Loose Cannon
Turn in my badge
Turn in my gun
Kicked off the force because I get the job done
I’m a loose
Loose Cannon

No Time To Bleed

Just like I made a track for The Black Guy Who Tips Podcast for their segment on ridiculous action movies called “Impossible White Man,” I decided to lay a track down for the Nerdpocalypse Podcast as well for their action movie segment, “No Time to Bleed.” Shoot, I might just make an EP.

Lyrics

Come on Tough Guys I got all the bullets you need
I got time to kill but got NO TIME TO BLEED
When it comes to hot lead, better to give than receive
I got you a present but got NO TIME TO BLEED

I GOT – NO TIME – TO BLEED
(No not at all)
I GOT – NO TIME – TO BLEED
(No not at all)
I GOT – NO TIME – TO BLEED

NO time to Bleed

Impossible White Man

I listen to a lot of podcasts. One of my favorites is The Black Guy Who Tips, a podcast where the slogan is, “Nothing is wrong if it’s funny.” The Podcast is hosted by Rodimus Prime and his wife Karen. In the show he brings up his favorite genre of movie, a sub-genre of Action Films called “Impossible White Man.” The qualifiers for what makes a movie fit this genre are listed on this page.  A while ago Rodimus touted Olympus Has Fallen, starring Gerard Butler, as a good example of this kind of film. I finally got around to watching it and it inspired the most amazing thing! A song by me. The one below.

Lyrics

How does he do it
Is he specially trained
If it moves he can shoot it
It cannot be explained
He’s not unlikely, not just improbable
Mows down his enemies, he’s so unstoppable
Survives by any means, it seems illogical
He is the White Man, we call impossible
He is impossible
(Impossible White Man!)
He is the white man, we call impossible
(Impossible White Man!)
He is impossible
(Impossible White Man!)x4
He is impossible

Ungowa Soul Power – Theme Song

Here’s a theme song for this blog and a podcast I’m determined to start.

I’ve been trying to get this nerd culture podcast popping with friends of mine, but their lives are pretty full right now. So, since I already have this domain and plenty of thoughts on plenty of things, against the advice of a Rodimus Prime of The Black Guy Who Tips Podcast, I think I’ll go it alone for a while even if I do sound like a crazy person shouting towards the heavens. I’ll try to make the podcast a little more focused than this blog, and have fun sharing music and musings. That’s all I can promise.

So with that I wish you love peace and U N G O W A – Soooooooul Power!

Lyrics-

These may be the ramblings of a mad man

But in my head (I’m a bad bad man)

Trying to make i in the world as a black man

And not be a grouch inside a trash can

I stay woke when I face the sandman

So shake a hand if you overstand man

This is Chuck Spears so you know the plan man

Reach for the stars and take everything I can Man
